Protecting Vjosa’s Delta from unsustainable urban development: an integrated approach for the long term conservation of biodiversity values in the lower Vjosa valley.

The construction of an international airport is planned in the Vjosa delta, in the protected area Vjosë-Nartë. The area is internationally recognised for its nature and biodiversity, including more than 200 species of birds such as the flamingo and the pelican. The aim of the project is to safeguard the natural and cultural values of the Vjosa Delta against the plans of destruction, the construction of the Narta airport and the seaside urbanisation of the protected area of Vjose-Narte.
